The Hotel California Lyrics, And How It Benefited My Life

May 29th, 2011

Hotel California Lyrics include a scary undercurrent that may have led to some people’s strange assumptions about the song. This Eagles track was the 1977 Grammys’ Record of the Year, but the band didn’t show up at the awards ceremony. Hotel California lyrics were included with the album, but some people nevertheless misunderstood them. The intentional play on words in “She’s got the Mercedes bends” was mistaken for a typo. Hotel California lyrics are a sustained metaphor of the Eagles’ LA experiences at the time, as band member Glenn Frey has explained. The song is about the less pleasant parts of the American dream, according to Frey’s co-lyricist Don Henley. Henley and Frey wrote lyrics for the song after Don Felder first wrote the music for it. Rolling Stone’s list of the 500 all-time greatest albums has the Hotel California album, at number 37.
