Effective Strategy to Protect Identity Theft

I don’t really subscribe to the idea that the law enforcement agencies are doing enough to protect people from the onslaught of thousands of identity thieves all over the world.  I won’t wager on the thought that perhaps some of the high-ranking officials are involved in identity thieves.  But honestly, that thought keeps on occurring to me.  I don’t know where to trust regarding this debilitating crime.  I need to know an effective strategy to help protect identity theft possibilities.  I don’t want to risk the little money I earn from getting into the hands of the criminals.  Why there are still thousands of people who get victimized by this crime?
