Locksets – How to Install Them

Locate the door knobs in question , open the door and place something between it and the jamb so it will not close. There should be one screw to the right and one screw to the left of the knob itself. This is the part that snaps into the strike plate in the jamb. examine the latchbolt that came with your new door knob. If, not, then remove the old latch bolt from the door. Removing this latch bolt is realized by removing two more screws found on the fringe of the door. Re-install the new latch bolt in the same direction as the old one and install the screws into the latch bolt. Do not over tighten or the latch will not right.
