Why some home businesses never take off

November 25th, 2009

I remember in high school when i held the position of first chair clarinet, second position for a couple of years. During that time a new kid came along who was decent on the clarinet, but nothing special.

We had  system where students could challenge other students for their position. And one day. The new kid challenged me. Boy was I surprised. It was as if he had jumped 5 levels of expertise literally overnight.

So what do home businesses and this kid have in common? The need to focus. Obviously the only way he could have pulled off what he did was by extreme focus on study.

Too often business owners get lost in the latest opportunity and forget the core principles that make businesses work – two of which are focus and discipline.
