I bought Ormond McGill’s Encyclopaedia of Modern Stage Hypnosis and studied all 606 pages of it several times over. I felt I’d learned nothing about how to put people into trance the way the other modern Stage Hypnotists do (even though I did get a lot from it in other ways). The book was written about a time when hypnotists were perceived to be greatly powerful and superior beings, days when the hypnotist simply had to tell the volunteer to sleep and he would through fear and belief alone, and although things work a little different now, we will delve into creating these effects later in the book. I bought as many books on the subject as I could find from all over the world paying anywhere from £50 upwards…

Derived features of its morphology place it clearly within the bees, but it retains two unmodified ancestral traits of the legs , indicative of its transitional status. A recently reported bee fossil, of the genus Melittosphex, is considered “an extinct lineage of pollen-collecting Apoidea sister to the modern bees”, and dates from the early Cretaceous.
Up until recently the oldest non-compression bee fossil had been Cretotrigona prisca in New Jersey amber and of Cretaceous age, a meliponine. This same evolutionary buy honey bees scenario has also occurred within the vespoid wasps, where the group known as “pollen wasps” also evolved from predatory ancestors. The switch from insect prey to pollen may have resulted from the consumption of prey insects that were flower visitors and were partially covered with pollen when they were fed to the wasp larvae.
