March 2nd, 2010
Have you noticed among patients with diabetes? They have diabetic foot and is at risk for a whole range of complications. In those with long standing diabetes there is some nerve damage that prevents them feeling in the feet and legs and they feel numb. Normally, if some damage happens such as a cut or knock or joint sprain, then the pain from it is felt and measures are taken to prevent any further damage. In those with the nerve damage from the diabetes will not feel any damage that has happened and they continue to walk on them and make the damage worse. Combine this with the poor circulation and it can lead to a very serious one.
