Cracked Heels
September 25th, 2009
Skin that racks around the heel is painful and common in those who have very fleshy heels, dry skin and tend not to wear shoes. When you stand on a fleshy heel, it tends to bulge out the sides if the skin is dry, it tends to crack or split. This is like a tomato being squashed, and the skin of it splits. If the skin is supple and soft, it tends not to split. Wearing a shoe is a good way to keep the fat in place under the heel so it does not bulge out the sides and split. Those who are overweight are also more likely to get cracked heels.
